Omega Healthcare's Bhimavaram expansion
Donald Trump's effect has thrown all the Information Technology companies and others who are providing IT related services, which are directly or indirectly dependent on American markets, into a bout of anxiety currently. This doesn't seem to be the case with Omega Healthcare Management Services who are confident about the business growth. Started twelve years back with 15 employees, this company expanded to employ 11,500 people at present and has emerged as a big name in the field. This company caters to revenue cycle management, medical coding, billing, data management and patient interaction services leveraging IT and serves American clients in thehealth and medical industry. It started its branch in Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh as part of the A.P. Government's efforts to encourage industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh. Mr.Baskaran Gopalan, Vice President, spoke to 'Andhra Jyothi Business' on their expansion and future strategies.
How is the growth of business of Omega Healthcare ManagementServices?
Our business is steady for the last few years. We are operating through four business process management centers at present. Apart from metros like Bangalore and Chennai, we are operating in tier two cities like Trichy in Tamil Nadu and Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh also. Internationally we are present in Philippines with two centers. The total employee number currently is11,500.
Why Bhimavaram was chosen and how is it operating?
We chose Bhimavaram as there is huge scope to get people with required skills. Also because of the educational institutions surrounding Bhimavaram, we would not have shortage of candidates for recruitment.We require students who did biological sciences, pharmacy and physiotherapy for BPM services like Medical Coding. The Bhimavaram center which started with 400 seats is currently being expanded to 1,000 seats. This creates scope for locals to get more employment opportunities.
Is there expansion in other centers?
The Trichycenter in Tamil Nadu, which started in 2011, now has 4,000 employees and we are going to recruit another 1,000 in a year. The expansion decisions are dependent on the growth of the business.
You are in the very important healthcare services outsourcing field. Don't you have Data Security related issues?
We take stringent measures to secure data. Access to IT Infrastructure is subject to many conditions. We have earned clients' confidence due to the utmost importance given to data security. There are checks at various levels. To strengthen the Technology base we have taken over an analytics company 'WhiteSpace Health' in Hyderabad a few days back.
